Mommy-O Prayer: Special edition from a month after my cardiac arrest

This week’s Mommy-O prayer is from about a month after my cardiac arrest. I was still resting a lot and even the littlest things would wear me out, but I wanted to be with my family so much.

Dear Lord, please help us to rejoice in these down times. Give me energy to do laundry. Heal me, Lord. Make me whole. Help me to wait patiently for You. Show us the way, dear Lord.

My dependence on the Lord was so simple. I was grateful for enough energy to fold laundry, even though I didn’t have the strength to carry it upstairs. There was a peace about that time. I still seek that peace. I find it when I slow down enough.

Here’s the rest of that day’s prayer.

My kids need you, Lord. Please help them trust in You. Let them rest in Your arms and grow in faith. I long to be with them. Give me the strength. Help me to be a good mom during the times I’m with them and glorify you in all I do today.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go. I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” Ps. 32:8

Your posts sometimes remind me of the things I take for granted. I love the fresh perspective, like having the strength to fold laundry. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing this beautiful prayer, Ocieanna. God doesn’t need fancy words or prayers that go on forever.I believe the simplest, but heartfelt prayers can be most powerful.

O, you know I needed this prayer today. Thank you for reminding me to go to Him for EVERYTHING. When we’re flat on our back, the only way to look is Up. Thank you!
